Comments:   CHS vs Smithsburg (H) : "FORTITUDE"(mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty or adversity) That is the word that comes to mind each time I think of the total team effort on Monday night. You girls really came through. Mentally you stuck with it and emotionally you remained tough as they come. As we say "Adversity comes and adversity goes..." That could perhaps not be better illustrated than what we went through Monday; we went down 1 - 0 in the first half on a silly, sloppy goal, we began to see players drop one by one with injuries, Savannah Heon, Tara, Monique, Tori etc.. then we find ourselves shifting to all kinds of different positions and players to cover for injured teammates all over from our offense to our defense. Then as Adversity came Adversity left. All of a sudden we find a glimmer of hope from Brooke's goal and it is 1-1. Almost immediately "RESILIENCE"(ability to recover readily from illness, depression, adversity, or the like) appears. Players that I thought were done if not for a week or two, most certainly for the evening, started to approach me from the bench with request to return to play. Your will to "go through it and not to it " as a team began to shine on the field and from the players on the bench. Shear "GRIT"(firmness of character; indomitable spirit), "DETERMINATION"(the act of coming to a decision or of fixing or settling a purpose) and "WILL POWER"(control of one's impulses and actions) began to drive the team as a single unit. Then with 15 seconds in regulation Lindsey with her "Second" goal line header save of the year enables us to really "go through" to Over Time. WOW!!!! How does life get better than this??? I'll tell you how, in exactly the "Second" minute of Over Time ("within 2 mins of the beginning or end of a half" - "JUST SAYING"), 2 mins. and 57 seconds exactly, the goal that would kick start our season, came from Kayla Keegin on a follow through effort from Moniques initial shot. INCREDIBLE, simply INCREDIBLE!!!! Awesome job TEAM..... Congratulations to the JV Team, Coach Ken and Coach Eric on an opening day win. (all definitions found on dictionary.com)

Comments:   Great games last night - they were really a lot of fun to watch. Everyone really hussled and it is great to hear each of you support each other on the field. Thanks for being real TEAMS!

Comments:   Well done last night ladies! We overcame MANY injuries and showed a lot of heart. JV girls... we won the ball out of the air, communicated a lot better, and had beautiful through balls to our strikers. Strikers, way to finish! I would love see earlier shots and keeping our defensive shape on the outside as our goalsfor the next game. Sydney, you made some big saves, thanks. V girls...way to overcome many challenges. Lindsey, that is a perfect example of knowing your environment and "using your head" in the game. It was a great finish to a very hard fought game. Brooke, great job getting us going(super assist by Ericka) and Kayla way to follow up Monique's run. Mids and defense...excellent effort and heart. I am very proud of your effort...both teams.

Comments:   Ladies, I'm not going to lie, but I was glad our game got canceled tonight haha! Primarily because if we played today I don't think we would get the results we expected! This also allowed any injuries, like my own, time to heal. I am hoping to be back on the field as soon as possible!!! This year so far has been probably one of the best years because we all "click!" It's great to see that even though we may get frustrated during the game it doesn't continue after the last whistle is blown to end the game. We get a Friday night game which means hopefully more fans!!! Lets go out like the great soccer players we are and kick some butt against Walkersville!!!! This week (if we squeeze any practices in, with the rain) lets take practice serious as soon as we begin at 3:30, but also have fun doing it!! We are very blessed to have awesome coaches, like we do, who know how to have fun while also making us the great players that we are and will be! WE ARE SOCCER DIVAS :)

Comments:   FSK Scrimmage: Physical opponent tonight. Good for us as a team to help us develop that side of our game. Fitness was there but mentally we broke down. It will be important for us as a team to dig in, keep our mouths shut and be positive. We spend way too much time worrying about what everyone else is "not doing" instead of on what we should be doing individually. This will hurt us if we do not get a hold of it. You need to ask yourself are you the problem or a part of the solution. Tonight we failed to perform the basics that we have built on such as closing the space, containing, and covering as the 2nd or 3rd defender. We did a lot of stabbing and way over committing ourselves to attacking players. The second half was a different story. You did much better than the first half. We challenged for every ball and won several of them, we retained possession and we made some respectable passes to each other. In other words, "flashes of brilliance" that tell me we have game. We just need to focus on our individual efforts and let Coach coach the team. On a positive note we did end the preseason on another shutout. Thank you "Mister Goalpost". I hope someone got a picture of Caroline kissing the post after the game. None the less Caroline did a great job in goal and we seemed to find it as a team in our defensive third when we needed it. So good job!! We end our preseason run with a 5-1-2 record overall. We gave up 5 goals and scored 9 goals. Good preseason girls. Take time this weekend to run 2 miles and be ready for practice Monday morning.

Comments:   What a great day today. Although I only saw one JV game due to our schedules I was very impressed. Lots of goal scoring opportunities created constantly, lots of great goals and aggressive soccer. Well done JV girls. A special "Thank You" to any and all of the parents that made all that food and drink available. It certainly was a plus to have a home base for shelter and plenty of food and drink for the girls. Thanks again to all who played a part in making that happen and on such short notice. As for my Varsity girls, WOW !!!! You guys looked fantastic. Great teamwork, focus and determination. 4-1-1 record with 7 goals for and 4 against is all a coach could ask for. 4 shutouts for Caroline and Tor-Tor's Defence, "Incredible". Almost a 2-1 "Goals For" ratio, you girls are making me look good. In addition Boonsboro our toughest opponent today had 3 of the 4 goals we gave up. This means we actually gave up only 1 goal in the other 5 games. That is an outstanding stat. Boonsboro will be a worthy opponent this season for sure but with that kind of defence we certainly have a good foundation to build from. Team chemistry is very strong, attitudes were great and overall play and positioning is looking good. Some great goals today. On the Corner Kick excellent job Ericka. Sweet header from Tara and overall job with 5 goals!!!! While everyone did great today and I would love to point out each of you I think I would have to say that Hayley's job in the midfield was inspirational. Showing great vision, touch and overall dominance and a goal thrown in. Great job girl. Abs, our sweat innocent little Abby, "off the field maybe" but "KILLER" on the field, good job girl. Lets not forget our Freshman's overall contribution. And last but by no means least was Lindsey's "EPIC" save on the goal line. Way to be aware of your environment. Doesn't get much better than all that. I'm sure it was exciting soccer to watch for our parents and all of the spectators... You make me proud girls keep it up!!!!!!

Comments:   Being my last year as a Lady Cougar soccer player, I was very happy with our first ever appearance as a new "program" (JV and V)!!! Smithsburg ALWAYS wants to beat us, but once we started "gelling" we got under their skin!!! Now we are about to face FSK tonight! Ladies, I am very pumped for tonight I hope you all are feeling the same! We are very blessed with some awesome, passionate coaches; I am so glad they stepped up and took on this challenge, THANK YOU! And to our parents, we couldn't be here without your support and participation in our activities! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Lets go get a win!?!

Comments:   I am very impressed with the JV and V girls and their work ethic at practice. It is awesome to see that we can work hard and have fun too. That is what makes a TEAM. That will carry over to the games. Keep up the focus and I am looking forward to our scrimmage tomorrow.

Comments:   What a wonderful start to the season. Watching our JV and Varsity girls play in the Smithsburg Scrimmage was not only a joy to watch, but very exciting to see how they are talking positively on the field. Having this ability so early in the season means the team force will only intensify. Way to go girls keep up the hard work and positive energy! It makes it a lot of fun to see all of you play.

Comments:   Scrimmage Smithsburg HS: You girls looked great today. Both JV and Varsity had an awesome showing today. It looks as if all that hard running and two a day workouts has paid off. 5-4 JV is a great start and easily could have been 5-4 either way on a couple of shots. That is a very positive day for JV. The girls look good and you guys did a great job, to Coach Ken & Coach Eric. My Varsity girls looked "AWESOME"!!! "WE" worked together well, moved on and off the ball well, and had "EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION". Defensively not only did you guys look as if you were paying attention to all my yelling this week but that you "GOT" what I was saying. The leadership on the team and the willingness to follow or be lead by the the leadership is a huge advantage for us. This will define who we are as the season progresses and as we look back at the end of the season. "WELL DONE GIRLS" Coach Mark
